One of the favourites among my wargaming stuff are the Ottoman Turks. I have started to paint them as an enemy for my Hungarians, but I fell in love with the topic. As the 500th anniversary of the battle of Mohács (1526) arises I would like to improve my Turkish force for the purpose of the event. Together with a couple of other Hungarian wargamers we are planning to replay the battle on the anniversary.
The backbone of the Ottoman infntry consisted of janissaries who could firmely hold their line against enemy attacks. Mostly they were lightly armoured warriors, equipped with bows or firearms. But there had to be an Ottoman heavy infantry force despite the lack of sources on it. Maybe they were dismounted heavy cavalry or janissaries equipped with armour. But in certain situations it is sure that only with the use of some heavy infantry could they gain theie victories.
The unit I painted is a small block of Ottoman halberdiers. They are my first 3D printed unit.
