There is only a short time left until the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács. Until the 29th of August I am trying to paint us many figures as I can. This time two units of azab infantry archers are ready to face the Hungarians.
The azab infantry formed the backbone of the provincial troops of the Ottoman army. They were organized similar to a militia. In the early 16th century only the janissaries had firearms, the azabs were armed with bows, occasionally spears.
The figures are metals from Old Glory Miniatures. I really like their Ottoman range. The sculpts are accurate for representing an early Ottoman army, and have a distinctive artistic quality.
