Most of the Austrian Grenzer regiments were recruited from thhe Croatian and Serbian borderland. However there were two Székely (14th and 15th) and two Romanian (16th and 17th) regiments too. The Székely minority in Transylvania speaks Hungarian, they identify themselves as Hungarians. For this reason, for them to join the Honvéd Army in 1848 was not a question - for the 14th and 15th regiments.
The 2nd battalion of the 15th regiment was sent to Transdanubia in 1848.
